MARCH 2025, Issue 01
(ENGLISH)
Trademark Plastics is proud to announce the return of our safety committee! The safety committee brings together employees from all departments through monthly meetings where safety issues and topics are discussed.
The main goal of TPI's safety committee is to create safety culture amongst our employees and organization. Trademark is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment by protecting all employees from workplace injury and disease.
***Next Safety Committee meeting is scheduled for March 31st, 2025
The following page includes information regarding the safety topics from January & February's safety committee meetings:
Near misses are incidents that could have caused an accident, but didn't. Near misses are considered warnings and if we heed these warnings and look for causes, we may be able to prevent injury or damage.
Example of a near miss:
You are going up some stairs and your foot slips on a loose thread. You are able to regain your balance and prevent a fall, no harm done. Then another worker comes along and slips on the same loose thread and has to grab the handrail to prevent herself from falling, again no harm done. A third worker walks up the same stairs while carrying a box, slips on the same thread and falls breaking his ankle. Could this accident have been prevented? Yes. If the two near miss warnings were reported instead of being ignored and the loose thread was addressed, the accident would not have occurred.
How should we handle a near miss?
Be sure to report all near misses to your supervisor/lead, safety committee member, or HR. Near misses should be handled in the same manner as an accident and should be investigated. Corrective actions should also be taken to prevent a reoccurrence.
What has TPI done to emphasize the importance of near misses?
After reinstating this program and discussing this topic, TPI now has a new miss reporting policy set in place. To report a near miss, or any safety concerns please use our QR reporting code posted all around the plant. You may also fill out our new Near Miss Form and submit to your supervisor/lead or a safety committee member. Anything reported will be discussed during the monthly meetings to ensure issues are addressed and to ensure everyone's safety here at TPI.
Hazardous waste management refers to the collection, treatment, and disposal of waste material that, when improperly handled, can cause substantial harm to human health and safety or to the environment. Hazardous materials onsite here at TPI includes the following: Hydraulic Oil, Methanol Mix, VERDNNR-THINNER, Alcohol, Acetylene, Oxygen and Acetone.
What to do if there is a hazardous material spill?
TPI has a spill kit that is located in the Z-room. This kit includes absorbent pads, absorbent sock (also known as absorbent booms or absorbent noodles), gloves, and disposable bags.
TPI is proud to announce the return of our employee of the month recognition program. Each month we will be selecting a TPI employee to receive a recognition certificate, $100 gift card, and 2 crewneck sweaters of their choice. When considering someone for the award, we are looking for the individual who has made the company successful by assisting someone, helping someone else by making their job easier, or going above and beyond their work expectations. Please help us to congratulate our January & February employees of the month!
